Lots going on this week!

Welcome to Cork’s weekly newsletter. We have a lot of stuff going on here at Cork’s this week. We have not 1 but 2 beer tastings this week and a wine tasting for Friday night as well. We also have the return of Big Papi to the Sox just in time to slap down the resurgent Yankees. The Pats training camp starts today as they look to repeat as Super Bowl Champions…wait…ummm…they didn’t win 19 straight last year?...sorry... my bad... I’ve blocked most of that out…but we’ll get them this year.

Tonight’s (Thursday) beer tasting is a chance to meet Kenny Chesney look-alike Vinny as he samples you on Corona Extra, Light, Pacifico Clara, and Negra Modello. It is from 4:30 to 7:30 and features Corona who sponsors the Kenny and the Country Fest which is Saturday at Gillette. Our Saturday bonus tasting is with our new friend Yanni from Opa-Opa. He will be here from 11-3 to taste you on Opa-Opa Light, IPA, and Red Rock Ale. This is the perfect beer for the Country Fest crowd as it features a lasso wielding cowboy on the package. Oh yea, and they are local...and make really good beers as well...giddy up!!

Continuing our streak of rookie wine presenters we have Jay from Signature Imports based right here out of Mansfield here Friday night from 4 to 7 to taste you on wines from the Iberian Peninsula. He will start with Casa de Vila Verde Vinho Verde a delicious light Portuguese wine. Next up in my Rose crusade is Darien Rosado from Rioja. This is 100 % Tempranillo and a great summer wine. Darien Crianza is next and makes a perfect barbecue wine. We go back to Portugal for Vinzelo a blended red wine of 4 native varietals. Last but not least Casa de Santar Vinho Tinto from the Dao region is a delicious way to finish the night.

Don’t forget our 2nd Annual Customer Appreciation Day is right around the corner on Saturday, August 9th from noon to 3. And the Kick-Off Beer tasting is Saturday, September 13th so be sure to mark your calendars and check the website (corksfinewine.com) for details and updates. As I write this we are getting our daily monsoon so let’s hope the weather clears for the weekend.
