Valentine's Newsletter

Welcome to Cork’s Valentine’s newsletter.

Due to our impending liquor license, my vacation to Oregon next week and the fact that Easter is quickly sneaking up on us we are going to postpone our 4th Annual Spring Wine Tasting that was scheduled for March 12th. There is just too much that will be going on as we shift over half the store in preparation for the liquor, not to mention the time it will take for the liquor to come and get the section presentable. We will re-schedule the tasting after Easter sometime later in the spring when we can have the liquor and the entire store ready for our usual “Grand Tastings”.

We will be having a “Valentine” themed beer tasting today (Thursday 2/14) from 4:30 to 7:30. Mr. Wallace will start you with Redbach Kissed by Cherries from Belgium. Staying in Belgium, next up is Horny Devil Ale from Alesmith. And for the men out there who forget roses, chocolates or at least a card we have Dead Guy Ale from Rogue. Last but not least as I planned my Oregon adventure to wineries I will also be visiting Rogue Brewery. In my correspondence with them I was asked what my favorite Rogue brew was. When I answered the Chocolate Stout I got an e-mail back from Seb who told me all about their outstanding beers and told me she was the face on the Chocolate Stout bottle so we have to try that as well.

Since Valentine’s Day is on a Thursday I’m sure many of you will not celebrate until the weekend so let’s keep the ball rolling with a Valentine wine tasting Friday from 4 to 7 PM. Let’s kick it off with “Pink” Australian Sparkling Wine from Yellowglen. Next up is a blend of Shiraz/Grenache/Sangiovese called First Love. For all the single guys out there how about spending the weekend with Norma Jeane a Young Marilyn Merlot? I’m not usually a Merlot fan myself but Red Rock Merlot is one of the better Merlots I’ve had in awhile and will be next. We will finish with D’esiree which is a chocolate infused desert wine that you simply must try.

There will be no e-mail or tastings next week as I will be checking the Celtics out on their west coast swing. A quick liquor update, we have been approved by the ABCC and should have the license sometime next week. We will be moving wines and making room for liquor so please pardon our appearance the next few weeks. We will be closing out quite a few wines so be sure to check out our clearance racks and displays for some great wine bargains. A few random thoughts before I go…Woohoo…Redsox pitchers and catchers report today! And what a prison softball team they’re going to have with Roger “misremembered” Clemens and Barry “big head” Bonds!!
