Holiday Shopping

We apologize if you didn't get this week's newsletter. Our internet provider will not let us send any emails for 24 hours!

Of course, you can always find the weekly newsletter right here on the website by clicking the link at the left.

Here's this week's!
Beaujolais Nouveau est arrive! For those unfamiliar with this yearly tradition this is the 1st wine of the 2007 vintage and comes out the third Thursday of November. It is made with the Gamay grape and is a very light and fruity red wine making it an excellent pairing with turkey. This wine is not overly complex, the grapes having literally been on the vine less than 2 months ago. We carry the George Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau and as always it comes in a funky flowery designed bottle. This years version is a little pricier than in the past as it is flown over from France and we must deal with rising fuel costs and the Euro but is still a must try even for wine snobs.

Tonight’s beer tasting from 4:30 to 7:30 is with our local friends from Wachusett Brewing Co. We will taste their entire lineup which includes IPA, Country Ale, Blueberry, Nut Brown Ale, Black Shack Porter, and their Winter Ale. He will also have some pint glass Christmas Gift items as well. As with all our Thursday night beer tastings you will receive a 10 % discount on any Wachusett Beer tonight.

Friday night’s wine tasting will be with Kevin from Commonwealth Wines. He will have a couple of Thanksgiving wines to taste as well some new outstanding Australian wines from McWilliams. We will start with Mirasou Riesling and MacMurray Ranch Pinot Noir both excellent choices to serve with your holiday bird. The next 3 are new to Cork’s as we had the owner and winemaker from McWilliams here to taste us on their mid to high end wines. I was blown away at their quality. Their Coonwarra Shiraz and 2001 Cabernet are absolutely delicious and sell for less than 20 bucks. We also have a limited supply of 1999 Cabernet/Shiraz blend called “1877” (think poor mans Penfolds Grange) that were signed by Scott Williamson on his visit here to Cork’s. He also signed a few bottles of the “regular” McWilliams varietals that would make great gifts as well.

We’re also hoping to have to have the 2 newest additions of the Charity Wines for you to sample as well. Former Boston Bruins great Ray Borque presents “Bourque Merlot” and Cam Neely has “Cambernet”. Like the Redsox wines a portion of the proceeds from each bottle goes to their respective charities. This should be one of the best tastings of the holiday season and one you should not miss.

We probably won’t have a newsletter next week as it’s just too crazy here and we won’t have any tastings next week as well. Just a reminder we will open up an hour early on Wednesday Nov. 21st ( 9 AM to 9 PM ). We will be closed Thursday Thanksgiving Day. Friday’s hours will be 10 AM to 9 PM. We will be updating the website with Thanksgiving wine and food pairings and be sure to look for new and exciting gift ideas for the Holidays and beyond. I hope to see you all and help you with your Turkey Day wine and beer purchases but if I don’t I hope you all have a Great Thanksgiving.

Robert
