Well this should be an interesting newsletter as its 12:30, I have yet to eat and I’ve already seen 3 suppliers and tried about 20 wines…wooohoooo!!! Tough gig I have here, I know. OK, let’s focus as we have our 4th Annual Kick-Off Beer Tasting to talk about. I know things appear to be a little bleak with Brady going down for the year and the Sox dropping 2 of 3 to the Rays but I think it just adds a more mystique and interest to the seasons.
So 1 week late we have our 1st big beer tasting of the football season. It is this Saturday from 2:30 to 5 PM. We are scaling the event down just a bit as our last big beer tasting was a tad out of control. We will have about 75 beers (still tweaking and adding to the list) and about 15 tables. This will give those interested in tasting and learning more about the beers an opportunity to talk to the reps and not have it turn into a drunk fest. We will also not have a raffle at this event. As fun as this has been in the past we will keep the raffle for smaller weekly tastings and the big customer appreciation day. Of course, our famous tasting pizza and snacks will still be available as well as the t-shirts, pint glasses, bottle openers, hats and all that stuff.
We will not have a wine tasting this Friday night as we set up the store for the big beer tasting on Saturday. But feel free to come in and help set up the tables and I’ll crack a bottle of wine open to make the night fun. As the seasons change and we get more into wine weather we will be having wine tastings most every Friday from 4 to 7, and don’t forget our big holiday wine tasting will be Friday, November 7th from 4:30 to 7 so be sure to save that night on your calendar.
Wow this newsletter is pretty lame considering I’ve tasted 20 wines...oh well…perhaps it’s for the best. Here is a glimpse of the beers we have for Saturday’s big tasting…
Sam Adams...Plank...Wachusett...Cisco...Clipper City...Southern Tier...Harpoon...Black Sheep Ale...Lion Stout...Opa Opa...Jacks Pumpkin Spice...Magic Hat... Staropramen…Redbridge (organic)…Beck’s…Shipyard...Michelob…Woodchuck...Hobgoblin...Buzzard’s Bay…Fiddlers Elbow...and we will also have the brand new and much hyped Budweiser Ale!!
I’m still negotiating to get Tom and Giselle here for the tasting since he’s not doing anything. If not,I think we can snag a couple of linemen/women from the Boston Militia or a Patriot cheerleader or 2 (hey a guy can dream) but either way this is always a fun event. So be sure to don your Pats gear and stop by to try some great new beers, Oktoberfests, and even some of your old favorites and help kick-off the football season. Hope to see you all there!
