Wow this is the latest I’ve started a newsletter in awhile but it’s been crazy here at Cork’s. The Parrotheads were already congregating in the parking lot this AM for tonight’s Jimmy Buffet concert and my not so subtle pleas to lure Wallace back from the bushes have been fruitless so far, so I’ve been schlepping cases all morning. Anyways this will be brief but I wanted to get 1 out because we have 2 tastings this week to talk about.
We welcome back Sarah from Merchant du Vin for tonight’s (Thursday) beer tasting. She is one of the more knowledgeable beer reps out there and always has interesting beers for you to sample. Since October is national organic month (she told me I had no clue) we are going to do some organic beers tonight from 4:30 to 7:30. She will start you with Sam Smith Organic Ale and the new Sam Smith Organic Cider. Next is Pinkus Organic Pils and she will finish up with Ayinger Oktoberfest. So venture into the shark infested waters to try these excellent beers and receive 10% off any that you taste tonight.
John from Trio wines will be making a return appearance on Friday night from 4 to 7 PM to try you on some of his newer selections that we’ve brought in to Cork’s. He will start with an off dry Riesling from Washington State called Five H. Next is Bianchi Chardonnay which is a big rich buttery Chard and if you like that style, this is a must try. Shingleback Grenache is a highly rated, (91 points) delicious wine from Australia. Trace Merlot is next and is a big Merlot in a funky package. We will end with Bianchi Cabernet; this wine is mix of berry and coffee flavors and drinks like a $30 Cab for 10 bucks less than that.
Well the Pats kickoff their season this week but due to the Buffet concert on Saturday, our 4th Annual Kick-off Beer tasting will be next Sat. September 13th from 2:30 to 5 PM. I’m still putting the lineup together but we will be definitely be toning it down a bit from last years Superbrew event. I will be updating the website (corksfinewine.com) with details and will rant more about it in next week’s newsletter. I hope you all have a great weekend.
